Job summary

RESA Power is seeking a Shop Technician to take assignments from management and internal customers to support shop operations and fulfill customer orders.

The role requires inspecting equipment for defects, troubleshooting and repairing electrical gear including transformers and switchgear up to high voltage, and producing test reports to standards. A high school diploma/GED and 1 year of related experience are needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with at least 1 year of related work experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA and state safety standards.
• Familiarity with NETA, IEEE and NFPA standards.
• Experience with MCCs, breakers, relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, and switchgear startup up to 500kV class.
• Mechanical skills with low and high voltage equipment; ability to solve problems.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting; good written and verbal communication.
• Customer-focused, able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Valid driver's license required for positions with a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Complete incoming, visual inspection for electrical and mechanical defects.
• Troubleshoot, test, maintain, redesign, rebuild, retrofit, and/or repair electrical equipment.
• Work with transformers, low/medium voltage switchgear, and breakers as location requires.
• Prepare test reports to company and customer standards and timelines.
• Maintain strong client relationships through quality work and communication.
• Contribute to process improvements to reduce turnaround times and errors.
• Communicate with PM, Manager, or designee for issue resolution and information transfer.
• Collaborate with team members to complete jobs; interpret customer needs and specs.
• Keep work area clean; comply with safety rules and company policies; observe 0-5% travel.
• Occasionally work nights/weekends; provide offsite technical support as needed.
• Perform any additional duties assigned.
