Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement electrical power distribution and control systems for material handling projects within One MHS. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
• 4+ years of experience in electrical and controls design for industrial or material handling systems
• Deep understanding of EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, and PROFINET
• Strong knowledge of VFD selection, programming, and interface design
• Proficiency with IPCs, PLC programming, and SCADA system design
• Experience with sensor technologies, encoders, safety circuits, and safety devices
• Thorough understanding of NEC and its application to industrial installations
• Experience with 3-phase and single-phase power distribution system design
• Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, oequivalent)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Design power and controls systems for MH projects including 3-phase and single-phase distribution
• Develop electrical layouts, schematics, control architectures, and panel standardization
• Design modular, scalable power distribution systems prioritizing reliability and maintainability
• Establish best practices for panel placement, grounding, and safety circuit design
• Develop single-line diagrams, power distribution schematics, and panel schedules to support facility and equipment power needs
• Design and implement industrial communication networks (EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET)
• Develop control system architectures with IPCs, PLCs, and SCADA systems
• Specify, configure, and integrate VFDs and their interfaces
• Select sensors, encoders, safety devices per standards
• Design and implement safety systems (light curtains, relays, E-stops, safety PLCs)
• Conduct in-field installation audits to verify NEC compliance
• Review and approve drawings, specifications, submittals
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers
