Job summary

MBTA is seeking a Supervisor of Electrical Maintenance in the Boston area to plan, schedule, direct, and supervise personnel and resources in the Electrical Maintenance section. Responsibilities include inspections, repairs, installations, and refurbishing work across lighting, distribution, pumps, and tunnel lighting systems.

The role requires strong safety leadership, coordination of material deliveries, and the ability to manage a diverse workforce across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Five years of experience in electrical system inspection, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage systems.
• One year of supervisory experience managing a team.
• Valid Massachusetts Electrical license.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to use Word, Excel, or database applications.
• Effective organizational, analytical, and customer service skills.
• English language skills required.

Responsibilities

• Enforce MBTA and OSHA safety standards to protect workers and customers.
• Review the work of employees and contractors to develop recommendations for improvements.
• Assist in troubleshooting electrical problems and issues.
• Perform accident/incident inspections.
• Remain current with MBTA Safety Plan and position responsibilities.
• Oversee requisition and delivery of materials and equipment.
• Ensure staff maintain and report inventory levels.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are periodically inspected for safe operation.
• Prepare reports, schedules, and documentation.
• Process invoices and review staff assignments.
