Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in electrical system inspection, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage systems.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience managing a team.
  • Valid Massachusetts Electrical license.
  • Valid driver’s license per MBTA policy.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, or database applications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and customer service skills.

Job description

The Supervisor of Electrical Maintenance will be responsible for planning, scheduling, directing, and supervising the personnel, equipment, and resources involved in the Electrical Maintenance Section. This team is responsible for performing inspections, repairs, maintenance, installations, alterations, and refurbishing work within Electrical Maintenance. This work includes but is not limited to the following: electrical lighting circuits, electrical distribution circuits, all pumps, all fixtures, electrical apparatus attached to mechanical systems, medium and low voltage wiring and circuits, tunnel lighting, emergency lighting, and shop/facility components and equipment.

  • Responsible for the enforcement of MBTA and OSHA safety standards to ensure the safety of workers and customers
  • Review the work of the employees and contractors to develop recommendations for improvements
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical problems and issues
  • Perform accident/incident inspections
  • Remain current with the MBTA's Safety Plan as well as the position's outlined responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate the requisition and delivery of all materials and equipment necessary to complete the section work
  • Ensure that all staff maintain and report inventory levels
  • Ensure equipment and facilities under their control are periodically inspected to ensure systems are protected and maintained in a safe operating condition
  • Prepare reports, schedules, correspondence, and other required documentation
  • Process invoices, vouchers, and other documents and review work assignments of personnel with forepersons
  • Ensure accurate reporting of labor and material recordkeeping
  • Document, maintain, and prepare required maintenance and personnel records on manual and computerized tracking systems
  • Ensure proper training is completed
  • Drive a company or personal vehicle to visit work sites and assist during emergencies and/or events as needed
  • Work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed
  • Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees
  • Assist in the management of a workforce by ensuring the fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and policies of the Authority, including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, and Anti-Retaliation policies
  • Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned

Supervision

  • Supervision of Wireperson Forepersons and Wireperson teams.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years of experience in electrical system inspection, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage systems
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience managing a team, including but not limited to motivating and performance management
  • Valid Massachusetts Electrical license
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with MBTA policy.
  • Have the ability to use Word, Excel, or database applications
  • Effective organizational, analytical, and customer service skills
  • Have the ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience
  • Have the ability to supervise or work effectively with a diverse workforce
  • Successful applicants must have the English language skills required for the effective performance of the position.
