Transmission & Distribution Construction Lead

Job summary

The MBTA seeks a seasoned Supervisor of Transmission & Distribution Construction to oversee crews performing maintenance and construction of overhead and underground power lines and equipment in the Boston area.

You will coordinate with engineers and consultants, assign daily tasks, ensure safety standards, manage budgets, and participate in recruitment and training. The role requires flexibility for 24/7 operations and travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Five years in transportation equipment repair/maintenance or fleet admin.
• Five years of supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MCRS (Rail Focus) or similar systems.
• Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to work all shifts and 24/7 availability.
• English language skills required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect maintenance and construction of Transmission & Distribution projects and facilities.
• Coordinate with Authority Engineers and Consultants on design and maintenance.
• Assign daily work for crews handling HVAC and DC distribution systems.
• Uphold MBTA safety plans and policies.
• Manage budget targets and ensure timely, cost-effective work.
• Participate in recruitment, training, and discipline of personnel.
• Inspect inventory and ensure safe operation of equipment and facilities.
• Perform duties of the Superintendent as needed.
• Communicate with top management and other departments about line activities.
• Respond to inquiries from customers, vendors, or coworkers professionally.
• Respond to emergencies 24/7 and support site visits as needed.
