Job summary

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) is seeking an instructor to teach and develop materials for the College, advise students and assist the administration through committees and activities.

The role includes presenting course materials with multi-modal instructional strategies in lab environments, developing and maintaining lesson plans and lab projects, and supporting student professional development. Travel to partner campuses and professional meetings may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirements include an associate degree with industrial experience.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of higher education principles and practices.
  • Demonstration of teaching abilities.

Job description

To serve as instructor for the College, including duties of teaching, developing materials, advising students, and providing assistance to the administration through committees and other activities.

  • Present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process through multi-modalities and laboratory environments.
  • Develop, revise and maintain current instructional materials including lesson plans, lab projects, through course objectives, outlines, appropriate instructional materials and methods. Demonstrate and provide professional effective classroom management and control, maintain safety and current lab experience and equipment, provide timely and accurate reports supporting the collegiate learning environment.
  • Participate in assisting students in personal and professional development.
  • Effective use of required office hours and professional student advising for student completion.
  • Participate in college activities and the promotion of NETC through service.
  • Participate in activities designed to develop professional skills to maintain and improve job proficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics Mechanical or Electrical, Vocational Education and/or related fields with industrial experience. Drivers license required. NETC Preferred: Bachelor Degree in Technology, Education, or Management. Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education.

Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education. Knowledge of standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility. Knowledge of college mission, goals and objectives and ability to relate these to areas of responsibility. Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of a professional level staff; establish good working relationships with alumni, businesses, students, faculty and others. Ability to interpret and apply all related laws. Demonstration of teaching abilities. Prefer certification in NIMS or Manufacturing Certification and/or willingness to obtain certification.

The teaching environment includes classroom and lab, requiring local travel to business/industry and community campuses and some short term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional Development may require some overnight stays. Teaching locations include partner High Schools, State, Federal and Juvenile Correction facilities, community campuses, and industry partners.
