Job summary

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) is seeking a full-time instructor to teach courses in manufacturing tech, develop materials, advise students, and support college committees. The role includes classroom and lab work, multi-modal instruction, and travel to partner schools and industry sites.

You will maintain labs, prepare reports, supervise student progress, and participate in professional development and college activities as part of NETC’s mission to advance technical education.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical or related field with industrial experience.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of higher education principles and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise professional staff and coordinate activities.
  • Willingness to obtain NIMS or Manufacturing Certification.

Job description

Job Responsibilities To serve as instructor for the College, including duties of teaching, developing materials, advising students, and providing assistance to the administration through committees and other activities.

  • Present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process through multi-modalities and laboratory environments.
  • Develop, revise and maintain current instructional materials including lesson plans, lab projects, through course objectives, outlines, appropriate instructional materials and methods. Demonstrate and provide professional effective classroom management and control, maintain safety and current lab experience and equipment, provide timely and accurate reports supporting the collegiate learning environment.
  • Participate in assisting students in personal and professional development.
  • Effective use of required office hours and professional student advising for student completion.
  • Participate in college activities and the promotion of NETC through service.
  • Participate in activities designed to develop professional skills to maintain and improve job proficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics Mechanical or Electrical, Vocational Education and/or related fields with industrial experience. Drivers license required. NETC Preferred: Bachelor Degree in Technology, Education, or Management. Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education. Knowledge of standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility. Knowledge of college mission, goals and objectives and ability to relate these to areas of responsibility. Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of a professional level staff; establish good working relationships with alumni, businesses, students, faculty and others. Ability to interpret and apply all related laws. Demonstration of teaching abilities. Prefer certification in NIMS or Manufacturing Certification and/or willingness to obtain certification.

Additional Comments

The teaching environment includes classroom and lab, requiring local travel to business/industry and community campuses and some short term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional Development may require some overnight stays. Teaching locations include partner High Schools, State, Federal and Juvenile Correction facilities, community campuses, and industry partners.
