Job summary

DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, seeks an experienced Electrical Estimator for repowering and restoration projects in the solar and battery energy storage space. The role develops comprehensive, bottoms-up cost models for retrofit and restoration efforts and supports proposals through cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have strong electrical construction estimating experience in contractor/EPC contexts, familiarity with InEight Estimating or similar tools,

Qualifications

• Experience estimating electrical construction work for electrical contractors, EPCs, or similar entities.
• Experience evaluating work on existing facilities with incomplete or missing documentation.
• Knowledge of cost estimating best practices, methodologies and tools.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs, labor modeling, productivity analysis, vendor quote evaluation, and contingency development.
• Ability to clearly communicate estimate assumptions, exclusions, risks and recommendations to technical and commercial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering docs, BOMs and specs to develop accurate estimates for solar and BESS repowering, restoration and retrofit projects.
• Develop detailed bottoms-up cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, subs, rentals, mobilization and other costs.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from design packages and field documentation for restoration work.
• Conduct electrical takeoffs from engineering and field data.
• Create estimate assumptions, exclusions, allowances, escalation and contingency strategies to manage risk.
• Collaborate with project development, engineering, procurement and construction teams to validate scope and risks before proposals.
• Maintain material, equipment, labor and productivity databases with procurement/execution.
• Evaluate vendor/subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive, accurate cost models.
• Conduct site visits and work with SMEs to develop accurate scopes and costs.
• Integrate actual project costs and lessons learned to improve estimating accuracy and proposal quality.
• Support proposal development, customer discussions and internal estimate reviews.
