Job summary

Arup seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Boston. You’ll help design power distribution, lighting controls, and fire alarm systems while modeling with Revit. You’ll prepare electrical calculations and collaborate with architects and other disciplines to gain practical experience.

This role emphasizes initiative, teamwork, and ongoing learning in a supportive environment, with on‑the‑job training and opportunities to influence projects in a global consultancy.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Architectural Engineering (BSAE).
• Demonstrated interest in the electrical engineering industry.
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas clearly, both in person and in writing.
• Independent initiative, creative problem solving, eagerness to learn, and teamwork.
• Strong organization and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Preferred coursework/certifications in building systems, power, control systems, and codes.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting controls, fire alarm systems, grounding and lightning protection.
• Conduct lighting photometric calculations.
• Develop circuitry for Power and Lighting devices.
• Model electrical systems for projects in 3D using Revit (on the job training provided).
• Develop reports and electrical calculations.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and vendors to learn new subjects.
• Attend meetings and contribute to discussions with Architects and engineers.
• Contribute to internal process improvement initiatives.
