Job summary

Arup seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in New York. You’ll design distribution, lighting controls, and grounding systems while learning from multidisciplinary teams. Training in Revit is provided.

The role emphasizes analysis, collaboration, and growth in sustainable built environment projects. Applicants must be pursuing relevant engineering degrees and be eligible to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Architectural Engineering (BSAE) or similar degree.
• Demonstrated interest in the electrical engineering industry.
• Strong planning, organizing and communication abilities.
• Ability to explain technical ideas clearly in writing and speech.
• Proactive, creative, and collaborative with a teamwork mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting controls, fire alarm systems, grounding and lightning protection.
• Perform lighting photometric calculations.
• Create circuitry for power and lighting devices.
• Model electrical systems in 3D using Revit (on‑the‑job training provided).
• Develop reports and electrical calculations.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and vendors to learn new topics.
• Attend meetings, ask questions, participate in discussions with teams and architects.
• Contribute to internal process improvement initiatives.
