Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Lakeland, Florida office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Water/Wastewater and Utilities team. This is not a remote position.

The role involves designing water transmission systems, pump stations, pipelines, and treatment facilities, with responsibilities spanning project management, permitting, coordination, and client interaction. A PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months is required.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant electrical engineering design experience.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Municipal engineering experience including designing pump stations, pipelines, water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience with designing electrical/instrumentation & controls for pump stations and treatment plants.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication of technical concepts.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Positive attitude with urgency to deliver high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of water transmission and distribution systems and related facilities.
  • Work on municipal water and wastewater utilities designs.
  • Manage project tasks, design, permitting, coordination with team; monitor budgets and schedules.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to complete projects.
  • Maintain high-quality sets of plans and review others' work.
  • Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets and schedules.
  • Engage in plan production, project financials and client interaction.
