Job summary

Rivian is seeking a hands-on engineer for the Special Projects Team in Irvine, CA. You will design ground-up hardware for show cars and rapid prototypes, and translate design intent into functioning assemblies on the shop floor.

You will program microcontrollers and develop embedded software to make systems dynamic, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet aggressive timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience designing LV/HV vehicle wiring and PCBs.
• Proven ability to work across cross-functional teams on prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Design ground-up hardware for show cars and early prototypes, flexing across mechatronics, LV/HV wiring, and power electronics.
• Program microcontrollers and embedded software to transform static assemblies into dynamic, fully functional electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate ambitious ideas into reality, designing surrogate hardware to bypass bottlenecks and hit timelines.
• Maintain clean, actionable documentation so architectures can be serviced, duplicated, or evolved.
