Job summary

Rivian Automotive in Southern California seeks an Electronics Rework & Prototype Assembly Specialist to deliver first-time prototype builds and rework PCBA assemblies in challenging environments. You will bridge engineering and production with precision assembly, troubleshooting, and quality verification to IPC standards.

You will support NPI and tooling development, document build processes, and verify fixtures and equipment.

Qualifications

College degree in Electronics with 2 years hands-on experience or 5+ years hands-on experience.
Active IPC Class 3 solder certification.
Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620C standards.
Proficient in electrostatic discharge (ESD) practices and safety procedures.
Experience with standard shop fabrication tools and hand/power tools.
Familiar with reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Experience with Google Workspace and Jira.

Responsibilities

First-Time Prototype Build and PCBA rework using advanced hand-soldering and conformal coating per engineering dispositions.
Inspect PCBA quality, solder joints, and mechanical alignments per IPC standards.
Assemble and integrate complex wire harnesses per IPC/WHMA-A-620C guidelines.
Assist engineers in diagnosing circuit failures and perform functional tests.
Use calipers and height gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances; GD&T knowledge is a plus.
Support NPI and create SOPs, build routers, and tooling documentation.
Log results and perform routine maintenance on lab and assembly equipment.
