Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking an Electrical Engineer / Project Designer to join our multidisciplinary group and deliver impactful design solutions for a variety of markets. You will lead smaller projects under a lead Senior Engineer/Designer, directing electrical power, lighting, fire alarm and other low voltage systems while ensuring code compliance and design intent.

You will perform design work in Revit and AutoCAD, participate in field work, and coordinate with other disciplines.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts.
• Solid knowledge of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
• Experience in construction and knowledge of construction processes.
• Understanding of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specs.
• Ability to apply sustainable design principles.
• Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines.
• Knowledge of NFPA, IBC and Energy Codes.
• Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and schedules.
• Ability to train junior staff on software, codes and processes.
• Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD; MS Office.
• Experience with AGI 32, SKM, and Newforma is advantageous.
• Experience with low voltage systems such as telecom, security and fire alarm is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Creates electrical design documentation using Revit/AutoCAD and guides junior staff.
• Supervises staff to grow skills and career goals.
• Leads design development through sketches, calculations, and models.
• Prepares site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
• Coordinates with architectural, structural, mechanical and civil disciplines.
• Performs advanced calculations for electrical systems.
• Performs field work to review facility conditions for electrical design.
• Leads construction administration duties including shop drawings and RFIs.
• Evaluates building electrical systems and materials.
• Attends project coordination meetings.
• Supports value engineering and cost estimating.
• Applies sustainable design principles.
• Mentors junior staff on software and building codes.
• Maintains knowledge of current technologies and trends.
