Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Minnesota seeks an Electrical Engineer 1 to help design and modernize critical electrical systems for nuclear plants, including SMRs and life-extension projects. You will work under supervision, gaining hands-on experience in power systems analysis, protection studies, and equipment integration.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, translate concepts into drawings, and pursue licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).

Qualifications

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering calculations and design tasks for large nuclear plants, including protection studies and cable sizing.
• Use ETAP to perform power systems analysis and modeling.
• Assist with design, selection, and integration of major electrical power equipment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interface with client stakeholders.
• Translate concepts into detailed drawings with designers and drafters.
• Develop professional skills within fixed project schedules and budgets.
• Gaining exposure to the PE licensure pathway with mentorship.
