Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an engineer for the Electric Power Division to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems and manage projects from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities include design, programming, testing, and commissioning of PLC-based controls, plus mentoring technicians and customers. The role requires cross-functional collaboration and travel, with DoD SkillBridge eligibility in

Qualifications

Customer-focused mindset with ability to tailor solutions.
Experience with automation and controls including PLCs and HMIs.
Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
PLC experience with major brands listed.

Responsibilities

Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposals.
Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV control systems.
Convert legacy PLCs to current platforms and validate performance.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
Perform risk assessments and support field performance.
Provide technical support to sales and product teams, including escalation.
Submit project documentation and expenses timely.
Train technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
