Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Designer to perform designed construction, relocation, and new business work for the Distribution function. The role serves as a primary contact for customers, uses design standards and regulatory requirements, and supports billing, permits, and records across projects.

This on-site position is based at the Erie Service Center in Erie, PA. The designer will collaborate with internal teams, participate in emergency operations, and travel to various facilities

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or 2 years related utility design experience required.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute TECH employment test (EEI).
• Ability to interpret complex procedures, drawings, and schematics.
• Strong communication to guide decisions and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design single- and 3-phase overhead and underground layouts for various customers.
• Coordinate with customers and field teams through project lifecycles.
• Assist with billing, permits, and records for compliance and reporting.
• Support emergency and storm-related operations and validations.
• Maintain records and support technical reports and OMS data.
• Travel to FirstEnergy offices and customer sites as required.
