Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp in Ohio is seeking two Distribution Designer roles for the Cleveland Illuminating Company. These on-site positions support designed construction, relocation, and new business work within the Distribution function, engaging customers and internal teams to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

You will use engineering standards, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and related tools to prepare project packages, obtain permits, and document progress.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent with 2+ years of related experience.
• Experience in utility design and knowledge of construction methods.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute TECH employment test.
• Strong communication to guide decision-making and negotiate outcomes.
• Willingness to seek guidance and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety commitment in all tasks.
• Design overhead and underground systems for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Support progress with customer contacts, field work, and paperwork.
• Assist with billing for line extensions and relocations.
• Handle OMS follow-ups, outages, streetlight projects, and inspections.
• Obtain railroad, DOT, and municipal permits as needed.
• Collaborate to document easements for line extensions and relocations.
• Maintain compliant records for reports and metrics.
• Travel to FirstEnergy facilities and customer sites as required.
• Provide assistance during emergencies and storms.
