Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking two on-site Distribution Designers to handle design, relocation, and new business work within the Distribution function. You will liaise with customers, use design standards, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple service centers in Ohio.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent with utility design experience, plus proficiency in Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS. Travel to FirstEnergy locations and customer sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with 2+ years utility design experience.
• EEI TECH employment test required.
• Strong communication to guide decisions and negotiate outcomes.
• Willing to seek guidance and adapt to changing priorities.
• Able to interpret complex written and visual information (procedures, drawings).
• Familiarity with standards, codes, electrical systems, construction methods, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and enforce safety in all tasks.
• Apply design standards to overhead/underground layouts for residential, commercial, industrial needs.
• Support project progress through customer contact, fieldwork, and documentation.
• Assist with billing for line extensions and relocation work; handle non-routine scenarios.
• Manage OMS follow-ups, inspections, and outages; coordinate permits as needed.
• Collaborate with customers to secure easements for line extensions and highway relocations.
• Maintain compliant records for reports and metrics; travel to various facilities as required.
• Provide support during emergencies and storm responses.
