Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Designer for the Monongahela Power Company in Fairlea, WV. The role focuses on designed construction, relocation, and new work for the distribution function, acting as a touchpoint with internal and external customers throughout each project lifecycle.

The position is on-site at the Fairlea Service Center, with travel to various facilities and field sites as required. A relevant degree or equivalent experience is needed.

Qualifications

• Two to four-year degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related discipline, or 0-2 years related experience.
• OR High School / equivalent with minimum 2 years related work experience in utility design.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute TECH employment test.
• Strong communication and ability to manage priorities and diffuse situations.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle access for travel.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and underground systems for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Coordinate with customers, prepare job packages, and support billing and paperwork.
• Obtain permits and assist with easements for line extensions and relocations.
• Update records and assist OMS/field teams; travel to various locations as needed.
• Participate in emergency and storm-related activities and extended hours when required.
