Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Designer for the Marion Service Center in Marion, OH. The role focuses on designed construction, relocation, and new business work for the Distribution function, using customer service, software tools, and regulatory knowledge.

You will be a regular contact for internal and external customers, supporting outages, permits, and field work, with travel required to various facilities. The position emphasizes safety and adherence to FirstEnergy standards.

Qualifications

• Two- to four-year degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related discipline and 0-2 years related work experience is required.
• OR High School / equivalent and minimum 2 years related work experience is required.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) employment test.
• Willing to travel and have access to a vehicle to commute to various facilities.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety in all tasks.
• Utilizing FirstEnergy design standards to complete overhead and underground designs for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Supporting job progress through customer contacts, field work, and proper documentation.
• Facilitating billing functions for line extension and relocation work.
• Managing outage-related tasks, maintenance repairs, and related permits and inspections.
• Collaborating with customers to secure easements for line extensions and highway relocation work.
• Updating records and reports to support technical metrics and information systems.
• Traveling to FirstEnergy offices, training facilities, and customer sites as required.
• Providing ongoing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities.
