Job summary

Leidos in the United States seeks Distribution Engineers & Designers to create design and construction work packages for distribution systems and to review client scopes.

You will perform structural and electrical calculations, support field installations, and coordinate with utilities in dense urban projects. Requires 2+ years of experience and a BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial engineering; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred; additional relevant experience may be considered.
• 2+ years of experience executing distribution projects from kickoff through design, including customer interaction and process documentation
• Experience with utility reliability projects
• Proficiency with the NESC
• Valid U.S. driver's license; travel may be required
• Willingness to perform field and office work; outdoor environments; customer-site data collection for work packages
• Candidate should coordinate conflicting utilities and develop large design packages in dense urban environments

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements
• Perform engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop, flicker)
• Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles
• Coordinate with utilities and develop large design packages for dense urban projects
