Job summary

Leidos in the United States is seeking a Distribution Engineer & Designer to independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems for Leidos' utility clients.

You will review client scope, perform engineering calculations, provide field and construction support, and coordinate with team members. This role may require field data collection and travel, with reimbursement per IRS rates. A Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred.
• Experience with distribution projects from kickoff through design and customer interaction.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop, flicker).
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles.
• Coordinate with utilities, develop large design packages for dense urban projects, and manage ROW/easements.
