Job summary

Leidos seeks Distribution Engineers & Designers to develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems for utility customers. You will interact with clients to ensure high-quality work and apply standards across overhead and underground designs.

The role involves field data collection, post-construction reviews, and coordinating with multiple utilities. Travel and field work may be required, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience with the execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approved, including Customer interaction and Process documentation.
• Experience with utility reliability projects.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the NESC.
• Ability to utilize a personal vehicle; some travel is expected (reimbursed at IRS rates).
• Willingness to perform both field and office work; outdoor environments; customer-site visits for data collection.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for Leidos electric utility customers.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations (wood pole loading, guying, conductor sags, voltage drop, flicker).
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews to ensure standards are met.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban areas.
