Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a senior Electrical discipline lead to design and guide electrical systems for DOE nuclear facilities. You will lead a project team of engineers and designers, coordinate with clients and vendors, and ensure timely, within-budget delivery.

Requirements include US citizenship, ABET-accredited BSEE, US PE license with NM eligibility, and DOE Q clearance; 15+ years of design experience; strong leadership and communication; ability to obtain security

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited program is required; MSEE preferred.
• Must be currently licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the US and able to obtain NM PE licensure.
• Must have or be able to obtain a DOE “Q” level clearance.
• 15+ years of experience in design of electrical systems for DOE/nuclear projects.
• Experience with equipment selection, layouts, materials, and calculations.
• Experience creating electrical system drawings and LV distribution designs.
• 3+ years of leading an engineering design team.
• Experience as firm/client liaison in a lead role.
• Experience reviewing designs created by others.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of electrical deliverables including drawings, calculations, and specs.
• Act as Electrical discipline lead coordinating design phases for site projects.
• Ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
• Coordinate design activities across electrical engineers for compliant installations.
• Interface with clients, provide status updates, and clarify scope.
• Prepare and review detailed electrical calculations (arc flash, voltage drop, fault current).
• Prepare design input for drawing production and vendor specifications.
• Prepare reports and studies in clear technical language per client formats.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and share knowledge within the team.
