Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team seeks an experienced Electrical Designer to join our Houston office to design electrical systems across diverse project types, including mission critical facilities, healthcare, laboratories and manufacturing. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver low- and high-voltage power, distribution, energy storage, lighting and fire alarm systems.

Qualifications

• Proficient in electrical design and documentation practices.
• Strong analytical and calculation skills.
• Ability to coordinate with architecture and other engineering disciplines.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers when needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs that meet project objectives, codes, and engineering standards.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and well-coordinated construction documentation.
• Plan and manage project workloads to align with schedules and budgets.
• Perform and/or oversee electrical load studies, system analysis, and calculations.
• Size and specify equipment and develop system applications.
• Coordinate design solutions with architectural teams and other engineering disciplines.
• Maintain organized project files, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Uphold quality assurance standards throughout all design phases.
• Conduct or supervise on-site condition assessments and field investigations.
• Evaluate staffing needs and support effective resource planning.
• Monitor scope compliance and document deviations as they arise.
• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and design narratives.
• Participate in client meetings and technical discussions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
