Job summary

Tec Group International in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Electrical Engineering Department Manager to lead the electrical engineering function on major industrial projects. This senior, hands-on role combines technical delivery with staff leadership and client interface.

You will act as Engineer of Record, ensure design quality, mentor engineers, manage scopes and schedules, and collaborate with international delivery teams while promoting safety and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Active US Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering design/consulting experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards and practices.
• Experience with industrial/manufacturing clients and project leadership.
• Ability to lead teams, mentor engineers and manage client relationships.
• Proven ability to develop scopes, schedules, budgets and fee estimates.
• Excellent written communication and safety-focused leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team delivering electrical design and advisory services for complex industrial projects.
• Manage electrical scopes from studies through detailed engineering and commissioning.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and provide technical authority for designs and reports.
• Remain hands-on in engineering delivery and provide technical direction when needed.
• Interface with clients, project managers and business-development stakeholders.
• Develop project work plans, schedules, resources and fee estimates.
• Coordinate with international delivery teams to align resources and meet requirements.
• Review and approve work, uphold technical quality and QA standards.
• Mentor engineers and support career development.
• Lead recruitment, retention and succession planning for the department.
• Manage staff assignments, workload, utilization and billability.
• Support client development and technical proposals.
