Job summary

Tec Group International seeks a Civil/Structural Engineer for its Birmingham, Alabama office. You will lead structural design for industrial projects, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and guide junior engineers toward delivering safe, compliant solutions.

The role combines hands-on engineering with project leadership, offering exposure to feasibility studies, front-end planning through construction support, and opportunities for professional growth within a global engineering network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• At least five years of professional structural engineering experience.
• Experience designing structures for industrial, manufacturing or commercial facilities.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
• Familiarity with timber design would be beneficial.
• Working knowledge of US codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI and AISC.
• Experience producing and reviewing structural calculations, drawings and reports.
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects within budgets/schedules.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural engineering scope for small and medium-sized projects with limited supervision.
• Coordinate work of structural engineers and designers to meet quality, budget and schedule targets.
• Design structural systems and components for industrial and commercial facilities.
• Perform structural analysis using steel, reinforced concrete and timber.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and contribute to team development.
• Visit active project sites to monitor construction progress and address technical queries.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, process and electrical disciplines to meet client requirements.
