MissionHires is seeking a seasoned Electrical Design Engineer (or Senior Electrical Designer) to lead multi-discipline, heavy industrial design projects. You will own the development and checking of critical electrical design deliverables, write technical scopes and equipment specs, direct and mentor teams, engage with vendors and clients, produce FEL1–FEL3 estimates, and perform site walkdowns to drive practical, safe, and cost-effective solutions. PE preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage teams of engineers and designers on complex, multi-discipline heavy industrial projects
- Develop and review technical scopes of work and electrical equipment specifications
- Design and check electrical single-line diagrams, motor elementary diagrams, interconnection diagrams, power plans, cable schedules, lighting plans, and grounding plans
- Direct, mentor, and coordinate engineers/designers in producing high-quality deliverables
- Review and approve vendor drawings and technical submittals
- Prepare and validate FEL1, FEL2, and FEL3 estimates for electrical scope
- Collaborate with discipline leads and clients to resolve technical issues and align on project solutions
- Conduct plant/site walkdowns to gather field data and verify existing conditions
- Attend project meetings, client reviews, and bid walkdowns
- Ensure compliance with project standards, safety practices, and quality requirements
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent senior electrical design experience)
- 15–20 years of experience leading engineers and designers on complex, multi-discipline heavy industrial projects
- Proven ability to produce and check SLDs, motor elementaries, interconnection diagrams, power plans, cable schedules, lighting, and grounding plans
- Demonstrated experience writing technical scopes of work and electrical equipment specifications
- Experience reviewing and approving vendor drawings and coordinating with suppliers
- Competence in developing FEL1, FEL2, and FEL3 estimates
- Strong cross-discipline coordination and client-facing communication skills
- Ability to perform site walkdowns, gather field data, and participate in meetings and bid walkdowns
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, not required
