Job summary

Shepherd Electric Supply in Sterling, VA seeks a Counter Sales Representative to help walk-in and call-in customers, identify parts, and process orders at the counter. You will provide quotes, ensure accuracy, build relationships with contractors and facility managers, and represent the company professionally in every interaction.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 1–3 years in the electrical industry, basic computer skills (Eclipse preferred), and physical ability to lift up to 70

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of experience in the electrical industry preferred; attitude and reliability matter more than years.
• Proficiency in computer usage; familiarity with Eclipse software is a plus.
• Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency is a plus.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift items up to 70 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to getting things right the first time.
• Dependable attendance and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist walk-in and call-in customers with part identification, product selection, and order processing.
• Provide accurate quotes and follow through to close — no dropped handoffs.
• Build strong customer relationships that bring contractors and facility managers back by name.
• Represent Shepherd professionally in every interaction — appearance, conduct, and communication.
• Develop working knowledge of electrical products and identify parts correctly.
• Support accurate order processing so transactions are right before they leave the counter.
• Collaborate effectively with branch teammates in a fast-paced environment.
• Flag issues early — stock shortfalls, order concerns, customer escalations.
