Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Temporary Electrical and Control Technician I to support the Utilities and Energy Management department on UT MAIN CAMPUS. This role focuses on installation, retrofit and modification of electrical and control systems, including PLCs, DCS, UPS and ATS, while ensuring NE Code compliance.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and apprentice-level experience, with a Texas license pursued within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• At least 2-years of related apprentice-level experience in electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Hold a Texas Apprentice Electrician license or obtain one within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in journey-level installation, retrofit and modification of breakers, switchgear, lighting, motors, PLCs, DCS, UPSs and ATS systems.
• Support electrical and controls work in a power and chill water production environment.
• Maintain compliance with the National Electric Code.
