Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Technician I to join the Facilities Services Operations. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose pneumatic and DDC control systems, and support building HVAC performance across campus.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork within a large, mission-critical environment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, documenting work orders, and participating in ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Three years of journey-level experience with installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic and DDC instrumentation and control systems.
  • Education may be substituted by relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to heating and cooling trouble calls and troubleshoots HVAC controls.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and calibrates sensors for energy efficiency.
  • Renovates/upgrades control systems for improved building comfort.
  • Assists other teams; maintains clear communication on work orders.
  • Interprets drawings/specifications and commissions control systems for projects.
  • Keeps accurate records of materials used and daily time reports.
