Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer to join our McLean, Virginia team, supporting safe and efficient operation of power generation and facility systems. You will supervise electricians and control technicians, manage preventive maintenance, and assist with regulatory compliance and asset management.

This role requires collaboration with senior engineers, hands-on troubleshooting, and occasional after-hours work. A U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• 2-4 years engineering experience in power generation, industrial facilities, or facilities operations.
• Internship or co-op experience in industrial or power systems preferred.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical power systems, motors, generators, transformers, switchgear and protective devices.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles.
• Basic understanding of electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Craft and revise electrical switching procedures and coordinate site power switching tasks.
• Supervise electricians and control techs in maintenance and testing of electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot power delivery equipment and procure replacement parts.
• Support new recap projects and scope of work for bids from subcontractors.
• Master control systems (SCADA/IFIX, FOXBORO) and implement logic changes.
• Interface with client engineering and support planned/unplanned tasks.
• Verify electrical drawings and equipment documentation accuracy.
