Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Electrical Systems Operator to ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical distribution systems, including substations and UPS, across mission-critical facilities. You will monitor performance using SCADA, perform preventative maintenance, and respond to alarms and outages to restore power promptly.

The role emphasizes adherence to NEC and NFPA 70E, with strong focus on safety, documentation, and collaboration with engineers and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of electrical systems including high-voltage power distribution, transformers, control systems.
• Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical Systems preferred.
• Journeyman or equivalent certification required/preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor electrical distribution systems and substations, ensuring reliable power supply.
• Perform preventative maintenance to maximize system reliability and minimize disruption.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on UPS, generators, and critical infrastructure.
• Adhere to safety standards (NEC, NFPA 70E) and perform safe switching with LOTO procedures.
• Maintain logs and schematics, update system documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers and maintenance staff to resolve issues and maintain operations.
