Job summary

Sargent & Lundy offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days. The role focuses on developing drawing packages for electrical and mechanical layouts in a multi-disciplinary team, with hands-on CAD training in AutoCAD 3D and MicroStation.

You will create scaled drawings showing proposed installations in existing facilities, and may accompany experienced designers on client walkdowns to collect data and coordinate with vendors for design adjustments.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or high school diploma with relevant design experience.
• Six or more years of physical design experience incl. grounding layouts, duct bank, conduit drawings, cable tray, equipment location drawings.
• Advanced drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation; 3D visualization capability.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD; ability to multi-task across projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings based on input from multi-disciplinary team.
• Apply CAD skills and training in 3D design environments (AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation).
• Create drawings to scale showing installations in relation to existing facilities with exact specs and dimensions.
• Shadow experienced designers on client walkdowns to collect data for designs.
• Explain drawings to vendors/contractors to support design adjustments.
