Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in New Jersey is seeking a drafting professional to support a multi-disciplined team in creating design drawings from input data. You will develop CAD drawings and master sketches for installations, with 3D visualization and coordination with engineers.

Hybrid work requires in-office presence three days per week; training in MicroStation/AutoCAD and exposure to substation design databases will be provided.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent technical experience in drafting.
• 3+ years of experience with CAD tools; MicroStation preferred, AutoCAD acceptable.
• Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design.
• Ability to visualize equipment details, phase-to-ground and phase-to-phase clearances.
• Ability to multi-task from project to project.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer.

Responsibilities

• Draft master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities.
• Prepare design drawings based on input data.
• Assist experienced designers on client walkdowns to gather information.
• Explain drawings to vendors/contractors to support design adjustments.
