Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Marion, Ohio is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to own equipment reliability and trouble-shooting on a 1st shift. You will diagnose, repair, and prevent downtime across PLC-controlled and mechanical systems, coordinating with production and engineering to keep lines running smoothly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Strong troubleshooting knowledge of PLCs, electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and equipment documentation.
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment and preventive maintenance.
• Safety-focused with commitment to continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot PC/PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, drives, and other industrial control systems.
• Use electrical schematics, technical documentation, and hands-on diagnostic skills to identify root causes and restore equipment to operation.
• Respond to equipment issues and production downtime with urgency to minimize disruptions and maintain plant productivity.
• Coordinate with OEM technical support and other resources for complex repairs.
• Take ownership of problems from initial diagnosis through repair, follow-up, and prevention of future failures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on critical production equipment (welders, cutting systems, conveyors, automated assembly).
• Identify early signs of wear and potential failures; help develop and execute preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen reliability and uptime.
• Look beyond immediate repair to identify opportunities to prevent recurring problems.
• Work with production, engineering, and plant leadership to resolve equipment challenges and improve operational performance.
• Bring forward ideas to improve reliability, safety, maintainability, and plant efficiency.
• Prioritize work based on production needs while maintaining quality and safety.
