Job summary

Facilities Maintenance Management (FMM) is seeking motivated Electrical Apprentices to join our Team on commercial construction projects in Louisiana. You will assist the lead Electrician with servicing, troubleshooting, installing, and repairing electrical components, while adhering to local codes and safety standards.

This role emphasizes learning from leads, reading blueprints, using testing equipment, and collaborating with other trades to complete projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Must adhere to safety protocol and work in a drug-free environment.
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and ability to learn client and company policy.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions using FMM's core values of Quality, Teamwork, Integrity, Safety and Versatility.
• Proficient in computer, text, and email skills.
• Proficient in using power tools and electrical testing equipment.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience working with high voltage and low voltage systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles and concepts.
• Ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead Electrician in servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing electrical components for commercial construction in Louisiana.
• Plan layouts and installation of wiring, equipment, or fixtures per job specs and codes.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Test electrical systems and continuity using proper instruments.
• Inspect systems for hazards and compliance with codes.
• Install conduit and pipes and pull wires through conduits.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
• Learn and follow directives from leads.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
• Collaborate with other trades to complete projects on time and within budget.
