Job summary

Facilities Maintenance Management (FMM) seeks motivated Electrical Apprentices to support electricians on commercial construction projects in Louisiana. You will assist with planning, installation, testing, and inspection of electrical systems, while following NEC and safety standards to ensure safe, compliant work.

Qualifications

• Must adhere to safety protocol and work in a drug-free environment.
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations; learn client and company policy.
• Ability to handle multiple projects using FMM's core values (Quality, Teamwork, Integrity, Safety, Versatility).
• Proficient in computer, text, and email skills.
• Proficient in using power tools and electrical testing equipment.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience with high/low voltage systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles and concepts.
• Ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes.

Responsibilities

• Plan layout and installation of wiring, equipment or fixtures per job specs and local codes.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components.
• Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits.
• Use testing devices (ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes) to ensure safety and compatibility.
• Use power tools and testing equipment for installation and repair.
• Inspect systems, equipment, or components for hazards or defects per codes.
• Place conduit and pipes, pull wires to complete circuits.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and tools.
• Learn and follow directives from leads.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints and diagrams.
• Install wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures.
• Test electrical systems for functionality and safety.
• Collaborate with other trades to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and comply with safety regulations.
