Job summary

Henderson Municipal Power & Light (HMP&L) seeks a GIS Technician for the electric department in Henderson, Kentucky. The role focuses on gathering/validating data and creating maps, drawings, and records of the electric utility system, using ESRI ArcGIS to produce accurate GIS outputs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with GIS drafting training or a GIS degree, plus at least one year of GIS mapping experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of drafting/GIS training or GIS degree required.
• Minimum of one year GIS mapping experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Residency within defined distance from the Service Center Complex.
• Must pass drug/alcohol screen, physical exam and background check.
• No DUI convictions in the previous five years.

Responsibilities

• Gather and verify data for the electric utility system.
• Create and maintain maps, drawings, and records of the HMP&L electric utility system.
• Prepare work orders and support field operations with GIS data.
• Primarily create maps of the electric utility system in ESRI ArcGIS.
