Job summary

The City of Rock Hill seeks an entry‑level Electrical GIS / Engineering Technician I to support design, GIS data management, and field coordination for the electric utility. Under supervision, you will assist with construction staking, cost estimates, and QA/QC of GIS assets such as poles, transformers, and streetlights.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in a related field and a valid driver's license, with proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and MS Office.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, GIS, Geomatics, Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related field experience is preferred.
Valid Driver’s License is required.
Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, CMSEditor, and Microsoft Office is expected.
Knowledge of GPS data collection and spatial data management techniques is desirable.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plats, surveys, and utility maps; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare construction packages for electric services and distribution projects.
Perform overhead and underground design support, including conductor sizing and transformer locations.
Coordinate projects with contractors, developers, and City departments.
Maintain and update the electric utility GIS database with field verification.
Conduct GIS quality assurance to fix mapping errors and inconsistencies.
