Job summary

Provides technical expertise and guidance on the practical application and development of geospatial data, related applications, and models to support general business operations for Generation, Environmental Affairs, Telecommunications and Electric Transmission.

Essential Functions

• Acts as business and technical expert for company matters dealing with IT Telecom, Generation Services, Environmental Affairs, and Electric Transmission geospatial data, applications, and work processes.
• Participate in and provide support for Capital and O&M project development and implementation as required by IT Telecom, Generation Services, Environmental Affairs, and Electric Transmission.
• Design, build, and implement comprehensive geospatial models to support business operations for IT Telecom, Generation Services, Environmental Affairs, and Electric Transmission.
• Utilize geospatial records to direct and conduct spatial analysis to aid in planning, construction, and monitoring of the company’s electric transmission network and telecommunication network.
• Manage company Esri portal for IT Telecom, Generation Services, Environmental Affairs, and Electric Transmission including development of custom geospatial web content and web applications.
• Assists with the training of users and creates training material on how to utilize geospatial tools and data maintained by department.
• Responsible for analysis, development and implementation of departmental business practices and systems that meet the needs of Asset Information, IT Telecom, Generation Services, Environmental Affairs, and Electric Transmission.
• Effectively communicates with all levels in the company by blending appropriate levels of technical and business detail to ensure issues are thoroughly understood. Develops and maintains relationships with clients, peers, vendors and management.
• Utilize geoprocessing tools within the ArcGIS environment to translate PLS-CADD models of the electric transmission network into an Esri utility network model. Maintain geospatial records in the Esri ArcGIS platform of the electric transmission network and telecommunications network (e.g., fiber optic, microwave, and radio equipment) in support of business processes and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain geospatial records in the Esri ArcGIS platform for Environmental Affairs and Generation Services (e.g., environmental monitoring points, hazardous chemical storage, and impoundment/hydrology layers on and around company generation facilities) in support of business processes and regulatory requirements.

• Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.

GIS Specialist II

• Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and 3+ years of experience.

GIS Specialist Sr.

• Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and 5+ years of experience.

*Position will be filled at the level commensurate to the candidate's education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some work experience
• Familiarity with Esri ArcGIS Pro software and PLS-CADD software.
• Knowledge of geospatial data modeling and analysis.
