Job summary

Henderson Municipal Power & Light (HMP&L) seeks a GIS Technician for the electric department in Henderson, Kentucky. The role focuses on gathering/validating data and creating maps, drawings, and records of the electric utility system, using ESRI ArcGIS to produce accurate GIS outputs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with GIS drafting training or a GIS degree, plus at least one year of GIS mapping experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Residency within defined distance from the Service Center Complex.

Henderson Municipal Power & Light (HMP&L), an electric utility and fiber provider in Henderson, Kentucky, is seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician for the electric department. Duties include gathering/verifying data, creating and maintaining maps, drawings, and records of the HMP&L electric utility system and preparing work orders. Majority of this position is creating maps of the electric utility system in ESRI ARCGIS. Minimum requirements include: high school diploma or GED and completion of a vocational/technical training program in drafting with emphasis in GIS mapping and software or degree in GIS or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job; and a minimum of one year GIS mapping experience. Requirements include: a valid driver’s license; residency within a defined distance from the Service Center Complex; must pass a drug/alcohol screen, physical exam, and background check upon conditional offer of employment; and no DUI convictions in the previous five years. Preferred requirements include: ESRI experience; experience in the electric utility industry; and computer literacy.
