Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking two Distribution Designers for on-site positions at Solon, Mayfield, or Painesville service centers in Ohio. You will design overhead and underground layouts, support project progress, and coordinate with customers from start to finish.

Qualifications include an associate degree or equivalent experience, plus proficiency with OMS, CREWS, SAP, and related tools. Must be ready for emergency duties and travel to various facilities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical discipline is required or high school with two years of related utility design experience.
• PASS the Edison Electric Institute TECH employment test (TECH).
• Strong communication to guide decisions, negotiate outcomes, and diffuse conflicts.
• Willingness to seek guidance to fill knowledge gaps and adaptability to shifting priorities.
• Able to interpret complex written and visual information, including procedures, drawings, and schematics.
• Proficiency in software including Microsoft Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and graphic design (DDS).
• Willing to participate in emergencies and storm-related activities, including extended hours when needed.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety commitment across all tasks and activities.
• Design overhead and underground layouts for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Support job progress through customer contact, field work, and documentation.
• Facilitate billing reviews for line extensions and relocations.
• Handle OMS follow-ups, outages, inspections, and repairs as required.
• Acquire permits from railroad, DOT, and local road authorities.
• Coordinate easements for line extensions and relocations with customers.
• Maintain accurate records for reports, metrics, and information systems.
• Travel to FirstEnergy facilities and customer sites as needed.
• Provide assistance during emergencies and storm events.
