Job summary

Xavier University is inviting applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction in English Language Arts, beginning Fall 2027. The position will teach ELA methods coursework across Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education programs, and includes supervising field placements and maintaining partnerships with school districts.

Ideal candidates will hold a Doctorate in English Education or related field, with Ohio licensure within the first year and a Reading

Qualifications

• Doctorate in English Education, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field.
• Valid professional educator license; ability to be licensed in Ohio within first year.
• State Reading Endorsement or willingness to obtain within first year.
• Minimum 5 years’ related K-12 teaching experience while holding a professional educator license.
• Commitment to Xavier University's Jesuit Catholic mission and identity.
• Excellent organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction for a variety of ELA education and teacher preparation courses.
• Advise and mentor students pursuing licensure.
• Collaborate with program directors and field coordinator on field experiences related to ELA instruction.
• Contribute to service responsibilities of School of Education, College, and University.
• Maintain student records and data to ensure licensure requirements are met and support accreditation.
• Sustain and develop relationships with area schools and districts.
