Job summary

Xavier University’s School of Education invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction specializing in English Language Arts (ELA), beginning Fall 2027. This position will teach ELA methods coursework within the Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education programs, supporting candidates pursuing initial licensure.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in English Education, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction or related field.
• A valid professional educator license; ability to be licensed in Ohio within the first year.
• A state Reading Endorsement or willingness to obtain one within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction for ELA education and teacher preparation courses.
• Advise and mentor students pursuing licensure.
• Collaborate with program directors on field experiences.
• Contribute to service within the School of Education and University.
• Maintain records and support licensure and accreditation requirements.
• Develop and sustain relationships with area schools and districts.
