Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of EHS Operations to lead world-class safety programs across manufacturing facilities and operations in the United States. This role reports to the VP of Environmental, Health and Safety and drives a proactive, behavior-based safety culture with data-driven improvements.

The position oversees governance of EHS management systems, supports corporate EHS initiatives, and mentors EHS professionals, with travel up to 50% to ensure alignment across sites and compliance with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Safety, Engineering, or a related field
• 10 years EHS experience, 5 years management of others
• Ability to adapt to changing needs while focusing on client success
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability
• Ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with business objectives
• Drive a proactive safety culture with employee engagement and accountability
• Lead enterprise-wide EHS risk assessment and mitigation with Process Safety Management
• Develop, implement, and govern integrated EHS management systems and tools using data analytics
• Ensure regulatory compliance and governance over safety and environmental standards
• Oversee incident investigation with root cause analyses and preventive actions
• Mentor EHS professionals and leadership with up-to-date training programs
• 50% domestic travel
