Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a National Director, Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) in the USA. You will provide strategic leadership across national operations, high-hazard facilities, and refinery sites, turning regional EH&S wins into national standards and frameworks.

You will drive digital EH&S platforms, high-severity risk mitigation, and cross-functional teams toward an industry-leading operating model with strong regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or Occupational Safety.
• 10–15 years of senior EH&S leadership experience.
• Multidisciplinary background in operations, environmental management and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise EH&S programs across national operations and facilities.
• Develop digital EH&S platforms and governance for risk management.
• Oversee incident management, CAPA, and regulatory compliance.
• Align EH&S goals with business objectives and reporting.
• Collaborate with HR, Legal, Claims, IT and Finance to embed EH&S.
• Provide executive oversight for proposals, bids, and client pre-quals.
