Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead the site’s health, safety and environmental initiatives. You will manage OSHA, EPA compliance, EMS/SIPS programs and coordinate certification efforts for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 across the Kentucky facility.

The role requires a bachelor's in EHS with 5+ years of relevant experience, plus 2+ years in team leadership. Expect on-site work, on-call duties, potential travel, and a focus on reducing injuries

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, health and safety (EHS) required, with 5+ years of experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated team leadership or project management experience.
• Ability to make strategic decisions under pressure, including leading emergency response.
• Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and be on-call when required; travel may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Environmental, Health and Safety programs to ensure OSHA, EPA and company standards compliance.
• Lead EMS and SIPS maintenance, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification efforts.
• Coordinate healthcare handling of incidents to reduce costs and improve safety metrics.
• Train production staff and management on OSHA regulations, SOPs, and emergency protocols.
• Monitor KPIs and drive corrective actions based on data and audits.
• Collaborate with management to improve safety culture and employee engagement.
