Job summary

Roseburg Forest Products is seeking an experienced EHS leader to drive safety programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across our Chester, SC facility. You will partner with plant leadership to ensure environmental, health, and safety goals are met and sustained.

The role requires 5+ years in EHS leadership, strong regulatory knowledge, and exceptional communication and mentoring abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EHS Management, Environmental Science, or related subject and 5+ years experience in EHS leadership.
• Expert level understanding and working knowledge of applicable Environmental and Safety Regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, written, verbal and electronic communications skills.
• Strong teaching, coaching, facilitation, and mentoring skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent problem solving and investigation skills with root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
• Ability to build high trust work relationships at all levels.
• Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals.
• Knowledge of business and financial concepts.
• Ability to analyze and present data and interpret into actionable information.
• Maintain the highest ethical standards in dealing with confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements and coordinates safety programs and procedures.
• Keeps current with changes in regulations and implements changes accordingly.
• Collaborates with facility safety staff to support consistency across sites.
• Mentors development of technical safety skills for team members and leaders.
• Articulates the safety vision and engages staff to achieve it.
• Conducts or coordinates training in safety, regulations, and use of safety equipment.
• Ensures risk/hazard assessments are conducted and follow-ups implemented.
• Communicates health and safety goals, objectives, and metrics facility-wide.
• Partners with HR and Workers’ Compensation to improve safety performance and costs.
• Performs and administers safety audits and inspects facilities and equipment.
• Oversees facility safety inventory and training materials.
• Analyzes data to set safety priorities and develop action plans.
• Implements company and plant policies; supports performance indicators.
• Leads safety initiatives and investigations; collaborates with other sites.
